The members of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have decided today, June 2nd 2016, to elaborate a Draft Report on: “Striking a balance between the best interest of the child and need to keep the families together”, being a more concrete continuation of the motion for a resolution tabled last January by the Romanian Senators Ben-Oni Ardelean, Titus Corlatean and Viorel-Riceard Badea, members of the Romanian Delegation to PACE, sponsored also by representatives from fourteen countries, including Member of the Parliament Valeriu Ghiletchi from Republic of Moldova.
The report will consider to which extent the abusive measures taken by the Childcare Social Services (Barnevernet) from Norway are compatible with the Council of Europe standards in this specific field, and the resolution, which will draw the main conclusions from the report, will make concrete legislative recommendations to the Norwegian competent authorities.
The political victory of the Romanian Senators and of the Moldovan Parliamentary Member as representatives in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is extremely significant not only for solving the reunification of the Bodnariu family but also for the future of Romanian families (and other nationalities) which are caught in the claws of Norway’s Barnevernet.
